I think it's pretty immediate but not necessarily the first time. I've heard that sometimes a person doesn't show a reaction the first time but does the second.
All day? First time my LO had pb she showed signs of gassiness in the evening, then had pb diarrhea all the next day. It's different for everyone.
I guess it is different for everyone. My pedi was most specifically talking about the extreme reactions and not the more mild intolerance ones.
FWIW, I'm basically terrified of giving DS peanut butter... It's irrational I know.
I don't think it's irrational. Z had hives at 15 months and we have no idea what caused it. I've been paranoid ever since. To be fair, we went to a restaurant that had peanuts everywhere when she was about 3 months old and then when she was about a year. It never even occurred to us until after we'd been eating that there was peanut dust everywhere! It wasn't until on our way out that we even saw the tiny peanut warning sign outside the restaurant.
So far she seems fine. I'll keep an eye on her for the next couple of days to be sure. She refuses to eat the same thing 2 days in a row anyway lol. It's the only real picky part of her eating habits.
I went with the good ole allergy rules. If she didn't show any signs right away, then I would watch her for about 3 days and try again. After the 3rd time of no reaction then I just kinda put it in my "safe" list.
