Hard to imagine but today is Lila's 3-month birthday. It has been a roller coaster, unfortunately with more downs than ups. I am hoping that things will start to get better, especially once meds (Zoloft for me and Zantac for LO) start to work.
LO's premature birth and NICU stay were a very humbling experience. I have to remember that despite the challenges we face, there is much much to be thankful for. I saw many families facing greater challenges-whether medical, financial, relationship, etc or a combination of issues. I am grateful that DH and I have a strong relationship, we have supportive family who understand and respect the issues with a preemie and that we have the resources to deal with whatever challenges come our way.
And on a positive note, Lila is now smiling. It is not the total body smile, but a sly little half smile as if to say "gotcha."
Re: 3 months today
Happy 3 months Lila!
I totally understand how you are feeling. The preemie experience definitely doesn't end at discharge. There are so many lasting effects and that doesn't mean you are any less thankful for everything you do have. Glad to hear Lila is smiling!
I know exactly what you mean about how humbling the NICU is. For me, it was also the outpouring of support, both in my "online" and real-life, for cheering Adalyn on.
I do hope that the meds, for both you and Lila, start working soon! I'm glad to hear that she is smiling! Just when I thought that Adalyn couldn't melt my heart anymore, Adalyn not only smiles but giggles! You thought smiles were awesome? Wait until the giggles and chuckles start!
