Friday night I met L and the kids for dinner after their soccer practice.
Saturday
woke up at 5am and couldn't go back to sleep. By 7am, I had steam
cleaned the carpets and done 2 loads of laundry. We took the kids to
their first soccer game of the season. It was hot out there! Went to
lunch before L went to write and I took the kids home for a quick bath
before dropping them off for a playdate with a kid that they met at camp
this summer. It was the first time we've dropped them off at somone's
house I really didn't know.
But the mom was super nice and it went great. While they were there, I
went to the grocery store (which was PACKED on a Sat at 5:30. Sigh.) Got 2 very
tired kids to bed by 8 and watched stuff that L hates.
Sunday
once again was up at 6 and was cleaning by 7. Took the kids to the
Renaissance Fair. It was great since we
got there early and for the first 2 hours, it wasn't really crowded. We
met up with a co-worker and her family which was nice. I took the kids
to the mall to get haircuts, do a bit of shopping, and have a late
lunch. Went to the playground with our neighbors for a bit before
watching a movie with the kids and getting ready for the week. Had the
kids in bed asleep by 7:45 and watched the Emmys (didn't really care
since I don't really watch any of the shows that won and didn't think
Jimmy Kimmel was that funny.)
Just talked with L and discussed
her weekend writing schedule for this fall and am now depressed/pissed.
She will be home 4 weekends between now and the end of the year (and one
of them my father will be in town and one her parents will be in town
and the other 2 are the weekends before Christmas/New Years.) F me.
The only glimmer is that she is hoping that the entire rough draft will
be done by then.
2brides - I think MY wife's work schedule is challenging, but I don't think I could handle yours with that writing schedule! I'm sure it will all be worth it, but yikes! Hats off to you.
Friday night I went to the Munchkin Market, and while I didn't manage to snag any of the really big items I was looking for (quality jogging stroller, specific bassinet), I was able to grab a sweet Pack 'n Play and a bunch of other smaller stuff at killer prices. Then my friend and I went out to dinner and had a great time chatting and laughing. This friend has the greatest, loudest laugh I have ever heard and I got an immense amount of joy out of the scene created by said laugh when she asked what we were calling the baby lately, and I told her it was Cletus the Fetus.
Saturday was busy but awesome. S worked in the morning while I walked the dog, then we went to our old Rugby team's Homecoming match, then out to lunch with some old friends who are moving away, then home for a quick rest, then to the UofM football game (night game)! Really fun day.
Sunday S worked while I walked the dog and cleaned a bit, then we took the pup to get a bath and nails trimmed. While he was in there we went shopping. Then we swung out to the burbs to look at a BOB stroller that I found on craigslist. It was in amazing shape and a great deal so we grabbed it (promise I'm done with big purchases now until at least 24 weeks). Then back home to clean in advance of MIL and FIL arrival.
S's parents pulled in around 8, we went to dinner, back home and into bed. I'm so excited they're back a) because I love seeing them and b) because they'll be completing our upstairs remodel on this trip. And then we'll have a NURSERY, along with having our bedroom back. So exciting.
Man I'm wordy on Mondays. Hmmm, everyday actually.
Hope everyone else had a great weekend!

Fri: Mom had surgery during the day Friday so the night was pretty much sit around the house and watch Greys.
Sat: See Friday lol. Ann picked up Ky at like 7 for the night.
Sun: I picked up Ky at 8 so I could be home before my dad had to be at work since my mom was still supposed to be supervised. My brother and his family came over for late lunch/early dinner. Ky and I baked cupcakes for a work carry in and played baby.bus (I HIGHLY reccomend these free apps) on the table for a quiet pre bed activity. I am trying to get her to do something quiet after bath but before bed so she calms down some in the hopes that this helps the "No go night night. Night night in mama's bed. I wake up and play now!" sturggle we are having!
Friday: Took Kaden to a work BBQ, and to hang out with my friends/co-workers while I grabbed a word with my boss about leave/ returning part-time or possibly working from home. Needless to say the cloth diapering scenerio had my friend stumped she carried a fussy/crying baby down to my bosses office, onsie tails flapping in the wind and handed him over. My conversation with my boss was okay - but I did find out that returning with a flexible schedule will not be happening. So I guess I will be staying home. EV asked if I was excited or dissappointed and I said kind of both. Excited to know for sure that K and I would have each day together, disappointed that we won't have the extra steady income.
Saturday: We spent the day in San Francisco with our friends (another lesbian couple) and their daughter A (3 weeks older than K). We went to go see the dahlia's in Golden Gate park and walked to the De Young and went up the tower to see the views (its free :-) out to Thai for lunch then a coffee stop and of course and ice cream stop. By the end of the day the fog was rolling in so we piled into our SUV (with EV in the trunk) and fed the babies and chatted. It was a wonderful day.
Sunday: K slept 7 hours in a row followed by 2.5 hours.... Ahhhh heaven :-) I did homework while EV prepped for a work interview. Then we drove to the East Bay to find her an interview outfit (w/o success) and came home by 9pm, which is now pretty late for us (I felt like 2am...)
weekend was a EPIC FAIL but i think I was able to make M forget about her troubles... SUNDAY was kinda redeemed by a picnic and fun ..just our lil fam.
