I hired a doula and was so excited for my natural birth (or at least my attempt at one!). Baby is breech and while he still has a little time to turn, I'm trying to make plans for my C-section just in case. I've already paid for a doula and had a few visits with her. She's very sweet and I'm sad it's looking like I won't get to use her much. Anyone else have a doula and have a C-section? What did your doula do at the hospital? Did you have them come anyways or not even show up?
Thanks!
Re: Anyone hire a doula and end up with a scheduled C-section?
My doula talked to me about c-sections and how she would go in the surgical room should I need one (I didn't) so she still may be able to attend your birth and provide some support.
How far along are you? You don't have to schedule your c-section. You can wait until you go into labor spontaneously and see then if the baby has turned. Don't be pressured into doing something you don't want. Babies can turn very suddenly. Hopefully you still have time and will be able to have the birth you want!

There may also be benefits for babies who experience some labor over those who don't (last I read on this the evidence was still pretty sketchy but enough for me to say, why not?). For me personally--I wouldn't schedule a c-section for breech since I'd figure there was always that chance LO could turn. But that's just me (and would probably really tick off most OBs who would like a neater solution than my "wait and see" policy!).
What about post-birth help like breastfeeding, etc? Does your doula work with new moms on that kind of stuff, too?
