Confused which laundry detergent to use?

I read answers from the FAQ but there weren't many.  I have an HE washer and have read somewhere that original Tide works really good but not the HE one.  What do you recommened for an HE washer?  I am new to all of this.  I just purchased my first CD's to try them out and of course I want to take care of them the best I can and this detergent thing has got me stumped.  Thanks!

  • Ultra Tide HE! We don't have an HE washer, but that's what we use since it was the only one we could find at the store. Get the powdered one, not liquid.

  • Another vote for Tide HE powder. I use it in my front loader for diapers and it works great.

  • I use Rock n Green. I like it, plus it smells nice.

  • I use Ecos free and clear by Earth Friendly Products. I like it because it does like 150 loads and is cheap. Plus, it makes the inside of my washer (also, HE) look cleaner then when I used our regular detergent!

  • Tide Ultra Original Powder HE.  It's all I've ever used, never had any problems.
  • Another Tide lover here.

I like it because I can use it on my other clothes, everything comes clean, I can find it at Target.

  • +1 here for Free and Clear!

  • I thought you weren't supposed to use All Free and Clear.  I posted that question when I first got my CDs and was told not to use it.

I use Nellies Laundry Soda.  I got it off Amazon.

  • To piggy back off  her post, For powder in a front loading HE, where does it go? Do you put it in the normal detergent spot or do you throw it in with the diapers?

  • powered detergent in a front loader... mine has a little adjustment lever that you move to one side for liquid detergent to the other side for powdered, check your manual
