My first reaction when I saw the post title was to say "NO" out loud in my living room. It's super trendy and will forever be time stamped 2012. Thumbs down for either gender.

I've yet to meet a Grayson (boy or girl), I thought it was different. Too bad! This board puts names in perspective for me haha.
Grayson is DH and I's #1 choice for a boy. I don't HATE it for a girl, but rings as a boys' name for me for sure.
With that said, I don't know any Graysons and was incredibly surprised to see this on a 2012 "trendy" list. I'm actually REALLY disappointed. We know a couple (acquantainces) with the last name Grayson so that's kind of where it came from.
I HATE trendy names so now I'm torn between liking it and not wanting it....
Madison means "Son of Maude/Mad"
Addison means "Son of Adam"
And Allison was used more often as a masculine name, per SSA, long before girls.
Both have a masculine history and usage, despite being predominantly used on girls today. I actually know more male Addisons than female, though older.
I don't think any of them are that great for either, anyway.

I actually know a 8 y.o. girl named Grayson, and while I had never heard the name before when she was born, I think her mom knew other girl Graysons too. Maybe a regional thing? More popular in the South I think
Anything goes these days and not sure if you are set on that spelling...... so why not use Gracen? I love Gracen and wanted to use it but DH didn't like it and we had a boy!
I would try to avoid names that end in -son if I was naming a daughter. My DH had this on his first list for DS. He changed his mind after he learned it meant son of Gray (gray-haired in most of the sources I found).
I just explained to DH the "son" part and he completely agrees! Neither of us even put two and two together since DS was originally going to be Addison if he was a girl! I never realized that either. Back to the drawing board, thanks for your help ladies!
My cousin has a daughter named Gracen. I actually really like it, and it seems like a different name. I had a Grayson in my class last year and it took me ages to realize that his name was the same as Gracen.
Well, I'm going to combat the popular opinions. I think it's a beautiful name for a girl, and I think of it as a girl's name. I've known a girl named Grayson, but I've never seen a boy with this name.
DH isn't loving the FN Grace, I think it's beautiful but he's not into it. Her MN has to be Ann, so Grayson Ann is a serious tongue twister lol. I think we're going to drop it for a girl, I don't want my daughter to have a "son of" name!
My little sister nannies a little girl named Grayson. Maybe its the fact that she is a living doll that I like it. She rarely goes by nicknames but the name is open to Gray or Gracie.
Re: Grayson for a girl?
I don't understand why people like "Son of ..." names for girls. No.

Haha, I never even put that association with it! Thanks, totally changes it for me now. P.S., love your siggy!

Madison
Addison
Allison
Allison and Addison were originally boy names. Addison literally means son of Adam.
I do think some boy names on girls can be cute but I don't like Grayson for either, especially a girl.
This is a bad argument as...
Madison means "Son of Maude/Mad"
Addison means "Son of Adam"
And Allison was used more often as a masculine name, per SSA, long before girls.
Both have a masculine history and usage, despite being predominantly used on girls today. I actually know more male Addisons than female, though older.

I also know someone who has a girl Gracen. Pronounced like Grayson.
NMS at all, for either sex.
Remember, when said outloud, it's "Grayson". Doesn't matter how it's spelled.
And I was at the park one day as a woman yelled out "Grayson!" and i turned to see her calling to a girl. It just didn't feel right.

Gracen looks weird.
I like Grace Anne as an alternative.
