Diaper rash or yeast infection??

Dds bottom is bright red and lots of raised bumps.   I usually put on triple paste thick and it's gone or shows of improvements by next diaper change.no sign of improvement whatsoever in last 24 hrs...not to mentioned she pooped overnight last night... 1) how can I tell if it's just a normal rash and not yeast?.   I have nyasin from a yeast infection in her neck roll a few months back...Shuld I use that? 2) could it be from a food allergy?

DS just got over a yeast rash.  If the bumps are raised and in clusters, it's definitely a yeast rash.  If her butt is red and looks raw, then she prob has what I've experience with my son to be a bad rash (ie. baboon butt lol).  We got a prescription from his pedi to clear up the yeast rash.  Good luck!

if the holy grail isn't working for you its probably a yeast infection. We used Monistat 7 on DS and it almost gone the next day thats how I knew I was right. Just try what you have and if it works go with it

Just use the yeast ointment.  If you google for a picture, I find that helpful sometimes.  DS gets yeast rashes all.time.time.  The yeast medication will help if it's yeast and won't hurt if it isn't.  If it doesn't go away in a few days with either cream, then I'd call the doc. Make sure her bum is really, really dry before you apply anything or put a diaper on too.

I agree it sounds like a yeast rash.  It also helps if you start giving your child baby probiotics.  If you get cronic yeast infections, baby probiotic work wonders.  There is quite a few baby brands available.  i got mine at a health food store, its designed just for babies and it needs to be kept refrigerated.

I agree, it sounds like yeast.  Our doctor just explained at the one year checkup that even if the skin is so raw it's cracking and bleeding, as long as the skin is smooth, it's still probably just contact irritation.  Yeast is raised and rough patches.  I'd probably check with your doctor and see if it's ok to use the medicine you were prescribed before.
