Settle an argument please

We bought a new car that had to be shipped in from KC. The car shpuld get there tomorrow. Tell be what you think. Will make this as anon as possible.

Person A is getting the new car and works 2 miles from the car lot. Person B has a meeting tomorrow and will be close to the car lot.
Person B offered to stop by the car lot about 3:30 on the way home from the meeting to sign papers if the car is ready. A can go by after work, trade in the old car and get the new one while B gets Hannah. B refuses to go home, drive back to the car lot after 5pm with Hannah then fight traffic all the way home if the car is not ready to go by 3:30.
A is upset. B should go sign the papers whenever the car is ready so A can get the new car friday night insted of waiting until Saturday morning.

Long story short, should one go through a huge hassle so the other can get a new car 14hrs sooner? Or should one be patient and get the car when it is convenient all around?

  • Yea for a new car! It should be done when it is most convenient, but I understand not wanting to wait. I say do what is best for Hannah!

  • I love getting new cars and would be impatient to get it, however this should be done when convenient for all. Keep in mind, too, that you will have car seat installation to contend with. Perhaps whomever is getting the car should leave Hannah with the other.

  • I despise juggling child, paperwork, paying for things, and traffic, so I vote for when it is most convenient.  I would be really excited about the new car, but I think I'd rather do it when I can savor the moment. LOL.

  • I have had the purchase of a car take 3 hours before and we were paying cash.  I would be aware that it can take a really long time!

My two boys are getting a surprise May 2015!

I agree. I don't like to run any errands past 5pm, especially when you have the baby, dinner to prepare, etc.

  • Alternate suggestion: why doesn't A drive B's car on Friday.  Then B could drive the old car to the dealer after the meeting and sign and trade in the car all at the same time.  Then A could get Hannah after work and go home to a new car waiting in the drive!

Yes  Because than A would get to drive the car first and we all want to drive our own new car first duh!  *****totally sarcastic if you didn't get that****

  • Why can't B just sign the papers at 3:30?  The car doesn't need to be in hand in order to have papers signed. (A would drive the trade in and trade/sign their part/pick up when the car was ready) not sure if I needed to add that or it was just a given.

  • We bought the car without having seen it, so having the car on hand and seeing it was vital before we made a purchase agreement. Good thing too because the info online was not accurate and new papers had to be drawn up.

I left my meeting, went to my school, got Hannah, went home, grabbed what she needed, fought traffic, went to the car lot, signed the papers and left because I had to be at the football game by 7. It was a mess.
DH does love the new vehicle though.
