Need advice please!

We just started our TTC journey and have begun our investigative cycle with an RE. Wednesday was CD9 for me and I went in for an ultrasound and blood work. I just got back the results and they are as follows. Lining was 3.7, and I have 5 follicles on right and 11 on left, on both sides one started to grow and they are 10mm and others are small. My FSH on CD3 was 7.59.

We are worried because we don't know what is normal. The nurses were pleasant and said come back on CD12. I cannot really find anything on line that pertains to a natural cycle and CD9 stats. The other thing is my cycles are pretty long 3033 days. So that could affect things too!? Right?

Is there anything I can do?

We're going crazy and we haven't even really begun! Thanks for listening.

Re: Need advice please!

  • I think if your RE considered any of this abnormal, he/she would probably say something.  I don't know a lot about "normal" FSH levels for CD 9 or lining numbers; my numbers have not been a problem so it hasn't been discussed much by my RE.  10mm follies on CD 9 seems fine.  Presumably 1 will grow into a mature follicle, which is between 18-30 mm.  They tend to grow around 2mm per day, I think.

There is nothing wrong with a 30-33 day cycle.  My cycles are usually 31-32 days and my RE has never been concerned about that.  You either ovulate a few days later than the average and/or you have a longer-than-average LP; neither of which is a cause for concern when it's only a matter of a few days.

  • I'm sure your RE would've said something if there was cause for concern--though I'm also not sure what's "normal."  I will tell you that I also have 30-33 day cycle.  For me all that meant was that I tracked my cycle very carefully over about 8 months and got very used to all of my fertility signs (check out "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" if you haven't already!)  Using my own understanding of my body and ovulation predictor kits, we were able to pinpoint ovulation very precisely.  Working with an RE, I'm sure you'll have even more help in figuring out your cycle.  Relax--that's the most important thing!  Best of luck to you!
