With DS I did not leave the house untill his two week appointment, with the new baby that just won't be possible ( I am cheating by posting here DS is 4)
how early did the new baby leave the house with you. DS has to go to preschool, and i would have to pick him up. the idea of bringing a newborn into a SCHOOL (prek - 8th ) freaks me out just a little bit...
Re: how early did you leave the house with the new baby?
All of this!
With DS2, we had to take him to the hospital and various dr.s offices every day for 2 weeks from the day after being discharged due to his bilirubin being high but not high enough for him to be admitted.
With DS3, I had to start running errands again when he was 4 days old.

Sounds like us, too.
I left the house from the begining. I find newborns to be incredibly portable. Shoot, going out with my 16 month old DD and newborn DS was actually easier than going out now with my 3 year old and almost 2 year old who both dislike strollers and love to run, explore in different directions.
As for taking a newborn into school - I would either wear him in a MOBY or other wrap or keep him in his infant seat and cover it with a blanket if you are worried. At my DD's preschool people bring their newborns in all the time and it isn't a big deal.
As I have said a million times on this board, a sense of humor and a can-do attitude is all you need. If you fret over every little thing you will go insane. Just GO.

He also got a cold within the first month since my toddler, DH, mom and stepdad were all sick. His nose was a little stuffed up, but overall he was less sick than everyone else since he was nursing.
You just have to get out and keep on living and not stress about it too much.
