I'm woking on an opporutnity to go to a PT position, probably between 27-30 hours a week. Would you 1) work less hours each day or 2) cut down the number of days you work per week?
I would cut down the number of days. I would rather have a whole free day (doc. apts or even day trips) Than have to schedule myself just for an am or pm. Also adding in a perfect world i'd love to sleep in and relax with LO the day i was off

I'd cut down the number of days worked. My main reason is that we send Ty to DC and we pay by the day, not the # of hours, so if I worked 5 days, even if only 6 hours a day, I'd still pay for a full 5 days.
I would also cut down the number of days worked. The thought of not having to rush one morning, not having to wear work attire and not having to commute that one extra day would make it worth it for me. And the day trip thing that PP mentioned (or appts) would be a plus too.

Without question - DAYS!! It will give you an opportunity to have an entire day to get things done. A friend worked 80%, 5 days a week and said it wasn't as helpful as 80%, 4 days per week would have been. I am hoping to go PT myself and am planning to cut out days.
I would work a little bit longer and have more days off. At my job I have choice to work 4days a week or 3days and even 5days. I work 3 days a week 32hours which is consider Full time which I love BC I all my health benefits and I work less days. I wouldn't want it any other way! I just wish I could have more time with Dh!
Whem I went back to work after mat. leave a year ago, I returned to work 4 days/week. I absolutely love my schedule. I have Wednesdays off. It makes the weeks go by so fast. I use that day for MD appointments for me or LO, grocery shopping, other errands and housework. Frees up my weekend for more fun stuff. And when DH is off on a Wed too we get to fit in some quality time.
