Baby H is finally on nasal cannula, he was on cpap originally then ventilator then back on cpap....they tried to switch him to nasal cannula few days ago but had to put him back on cpap. They also tried to take his chest tube out (which was draining fluid trapped between his lungs and ribs) but had to put it back in the next day. Anyway tube came out yesterday ....really hoping it can stay out for good. He is doing well with his feedings that hes getting through his tube, they are slowly increasing it by 2ml twice daily.
Baby A, which is the smaller baby is doing well with his feedings from his tube as well, hes off the nasal cannula and was wearing clothes today! I got to participate with their care...changing their diapers and taking their temperature and practicing taking them out of their isolettes by myself. Its still difficult to get excited..im still very cautious and get teary eyed just thinking of them being on so many wires, tubes, and IV's. The nurse did tell me today to not be so surprised if I come in one of these days and find them in the progressive care nursery. My little ones are 2 weeks old tommorrow....where did the time go?
