I have heard some people have lost weight on the HCG drops. I was wondering if anyone knew of this working or has tried it themselves and it working. Please write of your experience or knowledge of this. Is it safe?
I don't have personal experience with it, because I would never considering doing it.
Taking hormones, limiting yourself to 500 calories per day, headaches,
depression, blood clots, nausea, hairloss, and wrecking your metabolism is NOT healthy.
Of course you'll lose weight if you only eat 500 calories
per day, that isn't even enough to support normal brain function. But
the instant you stop the diet you'll gain it all back (and likely then
some since your metabolism will be ruined).
Add to this the fact
that (1) there are no studies showing the efficacy of HCG as a way to
lose weight, (2) HCG was recently listed as a "banned substance" in
baseball because
it was being used as a steroid, and (3) the FDA recently banned the OTC
use of HCG as a diet supplement.
Thanks for the responses. I guess I should have just went with my gut but wanted to see what others opinions may be. I will do the old fashioned way of eating healthier and exercising. I must have missed the part about 500 calories a day. That is not possible in my life.
I tried it a long time ago. Lost 20 pounds...gained it all back in the following couple of months not on the drops. I now follow a different program that has been very successful for me and has become a lifestyle change so the weight loss is permanent and easy to maintain. Both of which I did not have with hcg. I would not recommend doing hcg, it's so unhealthy!
Re: NBR: HCG diet
I had to do some reading on my own for this one - I would advise against it (but I'm not a doctor). I think this isn't the right way to lose weight.

Here's a link with more info about the FDA ban...
