Weaning?

I posted this on BF board, but thought I might get more responses here.  Thanks!

Baby will turn 1 in about a month and a half.  (I can't believe it!)  So I work full time and I pump 3 times per day to get enough for 2 bottles at daycare - 12oz. total.  I nurse in the morning and before bed.  Plus she eats 3 meals of solids per day and is a really good eater.  On weekends I nurse 2 or 3 times per day as well as morning and night.  She seems to be nursing less and finishing more quickly.

I am ready to be done pumping and I plan to start her on whole milk after her birthday with pedi's OK.  (I hope she will take the milk because she refuses formula??)  But I would like to keep nursing in the morning and before bed as long as she wants to.  Just wondering if anyone has done this and has any advice.

My concern is that if I'm not nursing or pumping during the day, my supply will dry up very quickly.  I've had problems with low supply on and off the whole time and had to use herbal supplements and add to my diet.  Just looking for some tips and advice.  Thanks in advance!

Things are SO different when you've been nursing for a year than they are early on.

I returned to work when DS was 12 months. I have not pumped at work at all. He still nurses to his heart's content before work, after work, once at night, and any time on weekends. It's been a total non-issue to our nursing relationship.

Drop a pump a week around a year. Don't worry if she doesn't take as much WCM as she did breastmilk (DS only takes a few oz) - she'll make it up when you're together. 2-3 nursing sessions in 24 hours meets her dairy needs.

I stopped pumping at 1 year with both girls.

DD1 was weaned at 3y2m. DD2 is still nursing at 2y2m. Both still nursed at night until they were 2. I night weaned DD2 about a month ago, and since then she's only nursing 1-2x per day. Nursing a toddler is so much easier and less stressful than nursing a baby.

I would probably wean off pumping and then just nurse your DD whenever she wants to.
