Hi, I picked up the 20 strip kit of Answer Ovulation Predictor brand and I will have soooo many left over after testing because I waited until Day 14 to start (doing IUI and ultrasound / bloodwork monitoring) because I wanted to double-check on Day 15 when I was out of town unable to go into the fertility clinic for my daily monitoring. Thing is, I will be ovulating within the next couple of days according to my follicle size and hormone blood levels and will have at least 15 OPT strips remaining. Has anyone waited out the week after trigger and then used an OPK test strip every day to "test-out" the 2 ww? The container for the Answer OPK says not to use after 30 days. They won't last long enough to use for my next cycle (if I start testing on day 11 or 12 as usual) and I might as well use them up, right? Anyone have any advice/suggestions/techniques to share? I'm charting my temps and will have an HCG and progesterone blood test at my fertility clinic at approx 13-14 days post ovulation but thought it would still be fun and something to do. Baby dust! Wait, you don't need baby dust! You all are getting pregnant this month! :-) XOXO!

Re: Using Answer Ovulation strips to test out HCG trigger?

Well someone correct me if I'm wrong but I've heard that if you are obviously pregnant like AFTER you taken a HPT and had a pos that an OPK will be pos too, but I don't think you can use them to test out a trigger

That makes sense, thanks. Always something new to learn!
If you have the tests and you can't use them for the next cycle, I don't see why you couldn't do that. Like CLECyclist said, it's not the most accurate way to do it (I would never trust an OPK to be my HPT for a BFP), but if you just want to do it "for fun," go for it. I tracked my HCG to 0 with my miscarriage using HPTs and OPKs. The results were always the same.
