Cheapest place to buy formula?

Where do you buy your LO's formula?  We just switched from breastmilk to Similac Advance and I'm wondering if somewhere like Sam's or Costco sells it for a better deal than where I've been buying it - at Target with a sale and my $5 checks.  Is there an online site that's cheaper?  TIA!! Oh and I know that the Walmart and Target brands of powder are cheaper, but I'd rather just keep her on what we know works. :)

  • Target makes their own which you can compare to Similac, but I know their version of Enfamil is virtually identical. Every 4-6 weeks they have a sale where if you buy 2 cans, you get a $5 gift card. I'll in turn roll that gift card into my next diaper or formula purchase.

  • When DD was on formula at 7 months old we put her on Sam's Club brand formula. It was about 21 dollars a can and the can was huge. It lasted us about a week and a half to two weeks. I found it to be cheaper then Target or Walmart's Parent's Choice Brand. It was exactly like Enfamil.
  • We are using Similac Sensitive and I find it cheapest at Costco with a formula check.  When we transition to regular formula I think we sre going to go with Kirklands.  You get a HUGE container for under $20.

  • I was using similac. My husband is in the military, so we would buy it at the commissary. We've since switched over to the military's store generic version. It's cheaper than up up and Parents Choice by a couple of dollars.

  • I also use Similac advance.  I have always bought it at Target and the price was 22.99.  Just recently they increased the price to 24.99 ONLY on the Similac Advance.  I'm buying for twins so it's so pricey. I changed to Walmart who sell it for 22.99 also and I use the checks.  Stupid Target won't price match.
  • Our pedi told us that the Parents Choice version of Similac Advance is identical.  I was a bit worried to switch her.  At daycare she gets it for free so she has similac there and at home she gets Parents choice version b/c it is cheaper.  I got a can that makes 64 4oz bottles for $18 at Wal-Mart.  She has not had any problems at all and eats it just the same.

  • I couldn't find any great rates on formula - the best value I found was at Target when they had their "buy 2, get a gift card" promotion going on.  We were on Similiac Advance, then switched to Target.  He tolerated it just fine, no differences detected.  It's worth a try because it is significantly cheaper.

  • We are able to go back and forth between the Similac and Target brand of the same stuff.  When I have checks I buy the premixed Similac but for powder I buy the Target brand.  Neither of my babies have had any issues going between the two.  If you compare the labels for Similac vs. Target brand, they are identical.  There is a website my husband found (of course I don't know what it is) but it has a chart to compare the labels.  You can also buy formula in bulk on the same website.

  • My son is on Similac Advance and I buy it at Costco. I think it's definitely cheaper than Target. They sell 34 oz tubs for $29.99 (I don't think you can get the 34 oz tubs in any of the big box stores) vs. the 23 oz ones for between $22-$25. You can also use the checks there.

  • I normally go to Target unless there is a great deal at Babies R Us. I also use the Similac checks and combine the checks with coupons when I can. Also I have the Target debit cards that links to my bank account so that I get 5% off of every purchase. I always go with the name brand since we are using Similac Sensitive and in my comparison of the labels...they are close but not identical. Something to do with the types of oils used. In my research, I have read that it is best to not have palm olein oil for optimal bone mineral absorption. Similac is the only formula I have found that does not use the palm olein oil.
