Hi All!
Just wanted to introduce myself. Went into hospital 9/6 for what I thought was a gallbladder attack, to find that my kidneys were being damaged due to severe preeclampsia. I was 27 wks 2 days. They took my BP and found it to be 236/130, I was taken immediately down to Seattle to UWMC. They gave me steroid shots and medicine to try to control my BP for 48 hours to allow the shots to take effect. At 4:54 PM on 9/8 I delivered my daughter, Penelope, vaginally into the world. She was 2 lbs 1.25 oz and about 15 inches long. She's doing superb and my BP is getting under control slowly. Penelope is on room air via nasal canula. She is now able to control her body temp on her own as well. She is also taking feedings of my breast milk through a feeding tube through her nose. She is amazing. Mom and Dad are trying to be stronger for her. Time will hopefully get easier as it goes by, but I know we won't be fully at ease until she comes home.
Glad to find this board, been looking for others to connect with and answers to many questions from other mommy's. Will be watching and asking as time goes on.
Thanks!
Re: Newbie
Congratulations on the birth of your little girl.
Praying for an uneventful NICU stay. Please stick around and ask any questions you may have.
Congrats on little Penelope! It sounds like she is doing wonderful on a nasal cannula! My 28 weekers were 2lbs and 2lbs 7oz and did 10 weeks in the NICU. They are 14 mo and doing really well. I hope her NICU adventure continues smoothly and she is home as quickly as possible.
