15 month appt today

And holy hell I thought we were filming an Exorcist sequel!  That child wants nothing to do with the doctor office anymore at all - and it started before we even saw the medical assistant!  Between daycare and the pedi office, she managed to fill her diaper.  And the way she carried on the bathroom while I tried to change her diaper (that was seriously a workout!) I am sure people on the other side of the door thought I was torturing her!  She seriously fought having her measurements taken but from what we were able to do, she is 20 lbs. 5 oz and 30.5 inches - I think 15th percentile for weight and 51st for height.  Her pedi is happy with her growth.  I nearly had her calmed down...and it was time for shots.  Oh that kids was not happy today!  And I made it even worse by taking her back to daycare and leaving her there.  Bad mommy.

Re: 15 month appt today

  • She and Evie are almost the exact same size!  She was 20 lbs 3 oz and 30 in.

We didn't get shots though...I know a lot of people said they did.  We are on the traditional schedule.  Weird.

Poor kiddo, I hope for both of your sakes she's happier after daycare!

  • Poor baby. Maybe give her extra love and snuggles tonight when you pick her up.

Today we had the varicella, flu shot and MMR.  One more shot at her 18 month (the last of the DTAP) and no more until she starts kindergarten!

  • My DS also was a bear at his 15mo appointment.  The dr said that typically at either the 15mo or 18mo appointment kids start to freak out.  We had a HIB and Prevnar vaccine.

My two boys are getting a surprise May 2015!

We got varicella and MMR at her 12 mo.    Same here, we are done until kindergarden after 18 mo!  Yay!

  • We have our 15 mo appointment today too!  At his 12 mo appointment he was sick so he didn't get any shots that day.  I think we'll have to make up for some of those today and I'm nervous about the number of needles!  I am curious to see where he falls on the growth chart, just in the past few weeks I think he's gained a lot.  I've been looking at him and thinking he is really turning into a chunkster!

  • Did your lo  get a flu shot at the 15mth check up? Pedi told us we gotta come back in month to get a booster shot for the flu? Is this correct?

We haven't gotten it yet, but my dr said the first time they get the flu shot (like, the first time in their lives) they need a second shot.  So only if LO didn't get one last year does he need the 2nd shot.

She did get a flu shot.  And she did get one last year as well.  We don't have to go back for a booster.  And once she's two, she can get the spray rather than the shot.

  • Hum, maybe I'll skip her booster than BC it wasn't her first time to have the flu shot.

  • Yeah our 15 month was the first appointment where she recognized that shots were coming.  When the nurse came in and laid her down she started looking around with wide eyes like WTH is going on.   I know that at her 18 month appointment she is definitely going to know what is going on... like probably scream as soon as we enter the exam room.

  • Em had her 15 month appt yesterday. She got 4 shots, one being a flu shot. She has a fever and a rough day today. I hope you don't have to deal with that. It was picture day at DC, but they said she wanted nothing to do with it. Stinks!!! At her appt, Em was fine until she saw the shots coming. Poor babies!!! I guess they'll forget it ever happened like we did.

Oh, and she is 32.5 inches 94th percentile and 24lbs 2 ounces 67th percentile

  • Dd had her 15 month appointment last week. Se got 2 shots and no flu shot. The dr said I should give her the flu shot at her 18 month appointment. Oh and as for her size she is off the charts at 34 inches and 30 lbs. she has been off the charts steadily since she was 6 months old. Everytime I bring her it's usually without dh they ask me if he is tall and he isn't! She is just a tall girl!
And as soon as they layed her down to measure her height she started crying. When the nurse layed her to give her he shots she was so upset. I felt so bad for her.
  • Uhhhhh right there with ya!!!! We had Connor's 15th month check up today too and it was brutal. We had the same issue for height and weight, he was thrashing around like a fish outta water, it was awful. My big guy is 28lbs and 34 inches.

  • Ty's 15-month was supposed to be Friday, but since he's supposed to get shots I moved it when we got invited to a family birthday party.  We're not taking him, but I don't want to leave him with anyone since he'll most likely be pretty fussy.  Next friday instead now.
