Trying to get 13.5 month old twins to eat table food

Any suggestions on transitions my 13.5 month old twin girls over to some able food. I offer green beans, peas, carrots, and they just throw it off their highchair. Any suggestions would be appeciated. They are still on stage 3 food.

  • Try putting your meals in the food processor until they get used to your food and the seasonings you use.  Plus its cheaper than baby food.  Otherwise, stick with softer food - mac & cheese, noodles, bananas, peas, chicken nuggets, pieces of cheese, etc.

  • Mine took forever to transition.  I finally just started putting 1/2 of whatever I was feeding them (like greenbeans) in a blender and mixing in the other 1/2 in cut up pieces.  Eventually they got the hang of bigger bites.  And keep trying, just because they throw it off today doesn't mean they won't be gobbling it up tomorrow.

  • I bought a baby bullet today, but thinking the girls are too old for it, and I may return it tomorrow. I mean I could use a regular blender, right? what do yall think

  • I've been working on this the past couple of months with my twins (14.5 months/12 months corrected).  I had better luck in the beginning with starchy kind of foods - cheerios, the baby puff things, whole wheat pancakes and french toast torn up into small pieces.  I think they were easier for them to pick up and then mash with their gums.  Once they got a hang of those then I was able to throw other food groups on the plate too. It's been a lot of trial and error.  Definitely just keep offering - even if it's just a few pieces offered first at every meal - it will click some day.  I also try to eat the same thing with them while they are eating to show them how it works.  Other days they seem to expect me to feed them if I'm sitting right there so then I try hovering out of their line of sight (where I can still see them) and then they usually will feed themselves once they realize it's the only option.

Also, I have a friend whose daughter refused all small pieces of food.  My friend tried slicing things (like well cooked veggies) into long, thin pieces that she could grip with her hands easily and then her daughter gobbled it all up by taking bites off the end.  That didn't work for us, but my friend swears by it.

  • Mine are 13.5 months, but 11.5 months corrected.. They eat the puffs, and the crunchies and the yougurt melts.. But i cant get them to eat veggies, or things I cook. I did get them to eat eggs with cheese this morning, and a cereal bar. they didnt eat all of it, but it is progress.
