Normal or not?

All day today my vagina has been very achey. Similar to menstrual cramps with the occasional sharp pain. I was making my plate at dinner and suddenly had such an intense contraction, I fell to my knees and started crying. It lasted for almost a full two minutes. After that, I had two more contractions at about half the length and intensity within the next ten minutes. I laid down on my side and drank water and went without a contraction for 40 minutes. I've now had two short ones again within the last 15 minutes and am still having random sharp pains. I'm content to just wait things out a bit and see what happens, but I thought id ask for your thoughts. TIA.

This is my siggy. Love it.

  • If you have a ticker I can't see it because I'm on my phone. How far along are you? If it continues don't hesitate to get checked. My two mottos are better safe than sorry and if you're worried enough to post here then you're worried enough to call.

  • I'd give it a little longer, but if things haven't settled down by midnight I'd probably call your OB. Something sounds a little "off" and at 32 weeks I'd want it checked out. It sounds like BH, but you can never be too careful. One that lasts so long might not be timeable, but it could definitely be changing something at that length.

  • I would call your dr.  BH aren't suppose to hurt, but real contractions do.  At 32 weeks your dr would want to try to stop them to give your babies a few more weeks to cook.

After my last episode of PTL(I've had 3 scares)my OB told me she will no longer stop labor. They've had the steroid shots and I'm already on Procardia every 4 hours. There's also an 18% growth discordance, so she thinks if my body wants to do it again, she's just going to let it happen.

Totally my opinion, but I would fight that tooth and nail as long as the babies are okay. Prior to 34w really prior to 36 IMO if labor can be stopped it absolutely should be. The steroid shots do not guarantee no long problems so every single day counts.

I fully agree, I'm just in a difficult position as my MFM also agrees with this plan. They said they'll go as far as turburteline, but won't put me on a mag drip due to the culmination of complications we've experienced thus far and the deteriorating state of my uterus.

ETA Also, I'm feeling mostly normal this morning, albeit more sore than usual. DH has stayed home from work today so that if things start back up he can take me to the hospital.

  • I would call your doctor, I was told if the pain hurts enough to make you cry, scream or wake you up from sleep, it could be the real thing and not BH.
