DH and I were settled on a name (well, we still half are) but began second guessing and both really like the name Oliver as another alternative. We don't have a lot of friends with babies so I was surprised to see how popular it seems to be getting according to the SSA. We like more original, less popular names. For those of you with more of a pulse on popularity and who have kids, do you think this name is overused and do you think it will continue to rise. It was #78 last year and my feeling is if it's going to continue to climb, we'll revert back to our other choice. TIA for your opinions.
Sept 2013 started TTC#2 (never got PP period so hoping for the first egg to drop)
Jan 2014 - diagnosed POF (Premature Ovarian Failure) and told pregnancy not possible without egg donor because my ovaries would never function again with my hormone levels (FSH 136, LH 98.6, AMH <.03, estradiol 0, HCG 7) - using acupuncture, chiropractic care and TCM herbs / supplements

We love Oliver (obviously, see siggy) but I do think it's on the rise. We don't know any other Olivers in real life except one and he is in his twenties and from Jamaica so we figured we were pretty safe going with the name. I still will love it even if it gets popular, although I will be sad if he ends up being one of three Olivers in school. We do get a lot of compliments on the name from everyone, old and young. We call him Ollie and it suits him well.
We didn't know when we used the name that it was high on the UK list last year (number 1 I think). I have heard names that are popular there get really popular here a couple of years later, so watch out for that.
This WAS our top choice for a boy, until we saw it quickly rising up the list for boys. We still may consider it-- we'll see where it stands when the 2012 name list comes out. We want our kid to have a traditional, yet slightly uncommon name.
This has been out top boy choice for a while. Depending on where it's at if/when we do have a boy we may use or change it.
We know one IRL and he is in his late 20's.
