Detroit Babies

Hello:) Need new OB. UofM or St. Joes in Ann Arbor??

Hello,

Please allow me to introduce myself:) My name is Leah and I am 6 weeks pregnant. We are very excited!

I am trying to find a new OB since my *wonderful* OBGYN no longer delivers babies.

Both UM & St Joe accept my insurance. Any OB rec's?

Lastly, what was your prenatal and delivery experience with either St. Joes or UM? Good, bad, ugly...

Thanks in advance:)

  • I delivered my baby at U of M 10 weeks ago and would HIGHLY recommend it. The facility is new and very nice with an amazing NICU if there any problems. I had a very complicated delivery and Dr. Bell handled it like a champion, so I would also highly recommend her. Basically, my baby's shoulder got stuck during delivery and Dr. Bell got him out safely while orchestrating the 20+ nurses and doctors that were in the room when my delivery got crazy. Not all the nurses I had during my 6 day stay were great but the majority of them are (the 6 days is not common - I had a 60 hour labor and postpartum complications).

  • I'm 38 weeks pregnant.. and I'll be delivering at St. Joes Ann Arbor. This is my first baby so I can't say first hand how my experience is.. yet. However, I have heard nothing but outstanding things about the care and service at St. Joes.. I've toured they're delivery rooms and baby center they we're redone in recent years and look great and staff seems wonderful! As far as OB recommendations I go to Erin Cook she is right down the road from St. Joes in the IHA buildings. I highly recommend her or anyone from that office, there are 9 OB's total that could possibly deliver your baby and you get a chance to meet them all and I can honestly say I feel totally comfortable with whoever ends up on call and delivering when I go into labor.

  • I had my first 2 babies at St. Joes and it was wonderful! Having my third there. I use Menon, Miller and Midwives. Menon and Miller are Doctors and the other 3 are midwives. They are off clark road by hogback.
