Intro: delivered at 32 weeks

Last week, my water broke at 32 weeks and I went into preterm labor. Doctors tried to keep my baby girl inside me for 2-3 more weeks with meds. I only lasted 2 days on hospital bed rest when my baby was born on Wed on 9/12/12. She was only 3 lbs 9 oz. I got steroid injections to boost her lungs during those 2 days. I know they helped & made a big difference because she came out crying immediately. She is in the NICU now and is doing really well. Her vitals are good, she's breathing well on her own, and they just started feeding her (through a tube from nose to stomach). She's growing stronger everyday! Not sure how long it will take to bring her home. Can't wait!

Your DD sounds a lot like my DS...he was also born at 32 weeks and was small for his age (2 lbs. 9 oz.) due to IUGR. I luckily got the steroid injections as well and he came out screaming and never needed breathing assistance. He had a relatively uneventful NICU stay, and hope your DD has the same and is home with you soon!

Congratulations!! My son was born at 31w5d and was 3lb 5 oz.... Flash forward to now, 3 months old and almost 11 pounds!!! I know it won't seem like it but even the time in nicu seems to go by in the blink of an eye (looking back). I pray your lo is home soon and her stay is quick and uneventful. This is a great board... Welcome!
