Self Care Check-in

What did you do to take care of yourself this week?

Last weeks challenge was to play a game (video game, board game, puzzle, sport, etc.).  How did you do?  What did you play and who did your play with?  Did you have fun?

This week's challenge - Clean up/re-organize/re-decorate one room in your home.

Re: Self Care Check-in

  • I failed this week.  I didn't take any me-time.  DH has been working overtime, plus he picked up a couple side jobs.  Add to that the demands of my job during this time of year (it's our busy season) and the fact that we had another night nurse call off this week... my house is a wreck and I'm exhausted.  Lily and I should be on our way to story time right now, but instead I am sitting here, bumping, and watching Lily play independently on the floor.  I just don't have the energy today.

I did play a game, but only because we entertained Saturday night.  I'm a real introvert so entertaining is not my thing.  In fact, I find it more stressful than refreshing, so that's why I didn't claim it as self-care.  But, the game was fun.  We played Carcassonne.  It's game play is somewhat different than a traditional board game and I liked that.

I'm looking forward to this week's challenge.  I hope I can motivate myself enough to do it.  My house is in desperate need of a little TLC.  And, I know that once my house is clean, I will feel much better.  Clutter and dirt seem to weigh on my subconscious and only adds to my generalized sense of anxiety.

  • We bought new clothes for DH and I over Labor Day weekend so this past Friday we went through our closet and got rid of 3 trash bags of clothes and shoes. We donated to DS's daycare.

I just do not have any will power to go through DS's baby clothes of 18 months and 24 months and get rid of it. I have baby fever.

Not much for self care except I am waiting for my new purse to come in. It will not be here till Wednesday.

  • Ok, I didn't play a game but I did "force" DH to sit and watch a movie with me.  It was fun.  I got to see 2 movies I wanted to see but always claimed to have no time to see.  It felt like a 'return to normal' from the craziness that is having 2 kids.

I also order most of my clothes online and had a bunch of stuff lying around that needed to be repackaged and returned.  I finally just sucked it up and did it last night so while it was work, I feel so much better now that I did it.

I like the challenge this week because I really need to do that.

  • I don't start my new job until October 1st, so for the next few weeks, I will be home alone while dh is at work and ds is in daycare.  My plan is to completely clean out all closets, sweep, mop, and clean the kitchens and bathrooms, vacuum, and de clutter the entire house.   Hopefully, I get a bunch done.

  • This week I read the Hunger Games Trilogy, I'm a little behind on popular books, I loved it though!

I didn't play any games, DH spent all his free time playing NHL 13 with my brothers this past week, which pissed me off.

We live with my parents right now, so I can't do any decorating, but I need to officially make the switch from summer to winter wardrobes since it snowed here today :/

  • Well, we watched DD1 play soccer on Saturday and DH coached. I kicked the ball around with DD1 and DD2 before the game -- that's about as close as I got to playing a game this week!

Other than that, I kind of failed with me-time. Although I did go to the doctor for a well-check, which I guess counts as self-care. :)

I think I'm going to reorganize my closet. God knows it needs the work.

That was me last weekend. DH said he "was glad that's over" when I announced I was finished with the series. It was a bit...ummm....consuming. Guess he didn't like me checking out for a couple hours that Sunday. Too damn bad.

    Ha!  Love it.

Yeah, every other Sunday, DH goes to spend the day with his friends playing D&D (yes I said D&D) so it's always a hairy situation.  The other day I got caught up doing some stuff and DH had to spend about 4 hrs with the boys by himself.  He was a bit 'frazzled' by the time I got home.  So I said "welcome to every other Sunday"

I might need to get "stuck" more often.  :-)

  • I did not play a game but I did 1. attend a photography workshop and 2. made myself sit down and finally watch the last 2 episodes of "Chuck" (this series ended around Dec/Jan). I love that show and am still sad that it ended!

    I'm a week ahead. I re-did my powder room.

Tore out hideous wallpaper, painted, new sink and vanity top, painted the vanity base. new toliet. It was an ugly task. But, except for touch ups, I am done.

I start on my soon to be "library" next... more wallpaper.

Do you mind sharing a pic?
