I've been SO excited about trying for a natural birth since day 1 of this pregnancy. I took Bradley classes and hired a doula and went through 3 ob gyns looking for someone who would support my goals. Unfortunately, as of an u/s at 35 weeks, he's breech.. I feel like the odds are against me because he's been breech since 17 weeks and I have an anterior placenta (and am not a good candidate for a version).
I've tried the following: accupuncture/mobuxstion (my doctor gave us moxi sticks and we've been doing this 2x a day), chiropractor certified in Webster technique for the past 2 weeks (since I was 33weeks), every exercise on spinning babies, lying on an inversion table 3x a day, hypnobabies breech baby track 2x a day, tons of cold/hot/music sort of remedies on my belly. Going to try to find a swimming pool tomorrow, but so far haven't found access to one. I might have to settle for my parents hot tub.
I feel SO defeated. I cry everyday, I can't sleep because I'm so terrified about having a C section, and I'm just so sad that this is my first baby and I don't even get to try to have a vaginal birth (no care providers around here willing to do that).
Please share your late pregnancy breech experiences. Also, if anyone has any relatively positive C-section experiences to share that would help as well. I'm SO terrified and upset about the prospect of one.
Re: Breech at 35+ weeks and looking for encouragement
DS2 flipped breech at 38 weeks. I went to the chiropractor and did spinning babies. He flipped back at 38w4d. Then at 39 weeks he moved to transverse. Had a successful version at 39w2d and thankfully went into labor a few hours later before he could turn again!
I can absolutely relate to your feelings though. I completely broke down when my midwife confirmed my suspicions that he was breech and then again when he was transverse. It helped for me to consider that perhaps there was a reason that he needed to be breech. This turned out true in my case. His torso was wrapped in the cord and it was pulling him up instead of allowing him to descend and properly engage.

I had tried many of the things you've tried (spinningbabies, peppermint oil, hot/cold/music, chiro) and was still breech. My baby flipped at 37 weeks, after an unsuccessful version at 36w5d.
I'm sure that you've done tons of research, so this might not even be worth mentioning, but is your Dr against a version just because of your anterior placenta? I also have an AP, and it wasn't an issue, so if that's the sole reason for not doing it you may be able to find someone who will try:) It's quite unpleasant, but the risks are VERY low and I would definitely try it again with subsequent babies if I was in the same situation again.
Best of luck to you!
