Carters sizing

Anyone else think Carters sizing is way off? It says "3m" fits 21-24inches and 8-12.5 lbs. Well, Sergio is 23.4 inches and 12 lbs and doesn't fit into Carters 3m onesies or pants.

Is my kid just an oddball or is anyone else having this issue? I bought tons of pants and fall wear for him from a Carters outlet before we had him, all in 3m, and now that it's chilly (it's been 65-70 during the day, dropping down to 50 at night!), he has no pants or sweaters that fit him. He swims in them!

Carters stuff is huge on my baby too. She's close to 11 pounds and long. I washed one pair of 3 month stretch pants four times now and they finally fit. Kind of. Then I have a 9 month sleeper that she wears that's almost indecently tight. Different brand.

Opposite problem.. 23in and 11 pounds and 3months Carter's is too small! Pants are ok, sleepers are Too small, And onesies are just ok.

Yes I agree. The only newborns that fit him were/are Carter's because they run so big. I found that washing them did shrink them though and he now fits into most Carter's onesies and sleepers that are size 03m. Pants are still a little big on the waist though.

DD is just over 9 lbs and is still in newborn from Carters.

DD is 11 lbs and is still in Newborn. The Newborn 1 pieces are too short now but the separate pants, onesies, and cardigans all fit her perfectly.

Almost everything regardless of brand is a bit big on my kiddo, in NB size. She's on the small end I guess, born at an artificial 8 pounds because she was extremely swollen from all the fluids I was given, and we weighed her on Thursday and she was 7 lb 12 oz on a Medela digital weighed feeding scale, Monday at the pedi she was supposedly 7 lb even on their ancient manual scale.

We had 2 sleepers she fits in, I think they're Carter's, although they're slightly loose and fit better when she's wearing a cloth diaper. The Faded Glory stuff sold at Walmart fits her pretty well. We were desperate for sleepers without snaps so we picked up a couple zippered ones. Lamaze brand stuff fits pretty nicely as well, pants are a little big but not huge.

She's basically wearing the same few things over and over until the rest of her NB clothes fit. I've been tempted to try preemie but I think she's too tall.

DS is 8lbs and still in NB clothes for all brands, but carters and little moments brand are really big and he will probably be wearing them for the next two months at this rate. If I was not for the length he would probably fit into preemie clothes.

This is what I have found (via my sister's two boys) with Carters brand clothing. The NB is 0-3, the 3mth is 3-6, the 6mth is 6-9 and so forth. Even Carters store will tell you this.

DD was 7 lbs 7 ounces when born and 19 3/4" and she fit the newborn sleepers, and is now 21 " and 9 lbs and 4 ounces and still fits newborn sleepers but they are getting tight. The 0-3 month sleepers are 3-4 " longer than the newborn so I dunno what to do - 3-4" is a big different. However in shirts she can wear 3 months shirts/onsies/bodysuits and even 3 month pants Tongue Tied

With DS I found 0 to 3 months to fit a little smaller than 3 months, but also keep in mind they're meant to grow into as well. When your LO outgrows a size they usually swim in the next size a bit before they fit perfect.

It also depends on build. Carter's was true to size for the first 6 months I think it was...going by weight and length, not by months. He was long and lean though.

DS started wearing Carter's 0 to 3 and 3 months at a couple weeks old, and around 9 pounds. DD is still in newborn and many of them still swim on her at about 8 pounds.

Onesies are good length. Too wide for us. Pants good length. Baggy. But I am ok with it! She's 11.7 lbs lost weight with reflux poor girl and not sure length right now

That's us too. He won't last in 3 mo sizing for long. That's why most of the STMs advised against stocking up too much before baby arrives, the sizing of most brands really can't be relied on, you just have to go with what fits your kid. DD was in 6 mo. Carter's by 2 mo. She's 17 mo now and wearing 2T. She's super long.

This is my baby, too. The Carters 3 month stuff is not going to last much longer.

I think it all depends on ter baby and kid. DS went through those sizes like crazy at a month and a half each size with newborn being the exception. DD will prob be in newborn another week or two and swim in 0to3 month stuff for a very long ttime. She is skinny around the waist but seems like she might be longer like her brother so things will be wide. Carter's seems to fit the best though. Anything else is way too wide and too big even in newborn sizes. It's just a guideline all those numbers...it's different for every kid.

This is us exactly. I'm not sure how long DD is since it's been a few weeks since her last appointment, but I just went out and got some 6 mo sleepers today because I can barely snap the 3 mo anymore. The 6 mo ones look huge, but I guess they'll just have to be a little bit big for a while. She still fits in most of the 3 mo onesies, but they're getting snug.

Yeah Carters baby stuff is made weird. Like short and wide. The pants shrink big time! I remember that from first DS.

Carters clothing that has one number is often confusing - the "3" is 0-3 months, "6" is 3-6 months, etc... That said, the Carters from Carters tends to be more generous IMO than the Carters Sweet Chile of Mine and Just One Year lines. Also I find it weird that size 0-3 months outfits that are girl outfits are shorter and thinner than the coordinating outfit from the boy side -- wouldn't know that except for now having b/g twins.

LO was born 10lbs 11oz, 21in and has been wearing Carter's 3 months since birth. He's 3.5 weeks now, I don't know his current weight but I can tell he's gained weight, he's still wearing Carter's 3's and is in 3 to 6 months in other brands. He's a chunker!

My son fits in both nb and 3 mo. He was 10 lbs and 22 inches at his 1 mo appointment aug 30 th. no clue what he's at now.

3mo pants are still long on him.

My daughter is long and lean, and is already too long for the 3m sleepers. But...she's swimming in 6m sizes.

Anyone have suggestions on children's clothing brands that run a bit truer to size?
