Number of naps?

Anyone else out there still have a twice a day napper? Are most people down to one a day? Lena is still taking two, and is a bear if she doesn't.

Re: Number of naps?

  • DS seems to have started the transition to one a day this week, although this morning he did snooze for about 20 minutes.  I think switching to one longer nap (2 hours) has really improved his sleep at night, though, as he has FINALLY STTN three consistent nights this week.  Hallelujah!!  ......and now I probably jinxed myself by typing it out.  :-D

  • We had switched to 1 a couple months back, but now we're at 2 again. Not sure how long it's going to last, though, because they're not very long naps. Grr.

  • Still taking two, and there's no way the am nap is going away any time soon. He would be a wreck.

My LO has always been on the higher side of total sleep needs, and later side of ages for dropping naps. He was taking 3 naps for a long time, he still does take a third one on rare occasions if his first two get interrupted.

  • Me!

We're gradually working down to one. Someday it's two short naps, the next it's 2 long naps, then we have one short, one long, then we have none at all..lol!

I never can tell. She's never been much of a napper.

At this point in the morning I lay her down with her sippy and she does what she does for at least 20 minutes, then repeat in the afternoon. Even if she doesn't nap the downtime is good for her.

  • She still naps twice in the day. They are usually always too short. 45 minutes max, but this week she has took 3 two hour naps :

  • she was down to about one a day. She does one a day at daycare usually from about 1pm-3pm but then whenever she is at home she does about 30 min in am and maybe about an hour in late afternoon.

  • He does 1 at DC but we are still offering 2. Granted, last weekend was the first weekend, but he went down both times. Also, took 2 for my mom here today. We are sticking with the morning nap until he stops falling asleep for it I guess.

  • She still does 2, AM for 23 hrs and 12 in the PM. Occasionally she'll skip the PM one if she wakes up late from the morning one.

  • Still 2 here. The first is around 12pm and that is for an hour or so, the second is at 5pm and I almost always have to wake her at 8pm or she'd sleep until 9/10pm and be up to party all.night.long.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do about her naps, but ideally I'd like to get her to 1 nap at around 2/3pm then she can sleep a couple hours with no problems.

  • Depends on the day sometimes 1 sometimes 2, depends on when I go for a run.

  • DD cut out the am nap around 9 months. She naps once a day after her lunch generally from 12/12:30- 2:30/3:00.

If she ever wants an extra nap she is certainty allowed but that's not happened since she cut the am nap out.

  • She moved to the Toddler Room at daycare and they nap them 12:30-2:30 so we started that same schedule at home.  Only she sleeps for 3 hours at home (I wake her once she gets to 3 hours).  If she wasn't doing 1 nap a day at daycare, she'd still be on 2 though.

  • Most days we're still at 2.  If he wakes up late, and therefore pushes his morning nap to more of a mid-day nap, then he'll only sleep a short time in the afternoon.  It's weird because he's begging for that morning nap most days by 10, I can't imagine dropping it anytime soon.

  • We were down to one with a short snooze in the car or stroller if we were out in the a.m.  It has gone back to two since her molars started coming in though.  Thankfully, she's not up all night (knock on wood) but her night sleep is effected because she still seems so tired when she wakes up and is ready to go back to sleep around 8-9 a.m.  Its usually only about 40-60 minutes though.  She takes a 2-3 hour nap in the p.m.

  • I thought he was trying to drop his second nap but he's still taking two.

He usually goes down for his first nap 3 hours or so after he gets up. Takes about an hour and a half nap then up for 3 or 4 more hours then down for about 45 minutes.

  • 2 still.  Thank goodness.

There are days where he takes one, but its mostly because he is a horrible sleeper.

And FWIW, his naps are only about 30 minutes each (give or take) so his 2 naps, may be others' 1 nap.

  • Nap? What's that? lol j/k

LO only takes 1 a day if that. When she's at home LO will usually sleep from 1 - 3 more or less (on a good day she sleeps a full 2 hours). During the week she gives the sitter a much harder time for naps. If she does nap it will be once for 30 minutes more or less. I think she doesn't like napping at the sitter's though because she doesn't create a nap friendly environment for her (..she just expects LO to lay down and go to sleep when she's tired which is very frustrating for me). At home I put her in the crib, draw the shades, and turn on white noise for her.

She's almost always sleeping by 8pm and sleeps through the night until about 7:30 (today she slept until 8:20 yay!)
