I feel like I made a lot of progress in choosing a international adoption agency today. I called several and talked with the director of one. They also had references listed to contact. I sent emails to about ten people and have gotten several responses, two even offered their number to talk on the phone. I talked with two and they were so positive and supportive, not just about the agency, but supportive and happy for our decision to adopt... and I'd never met them before. It was so nice to have complete strangers be happy for us. Both of our parents are very supportive and happy, but have no experience as well as any of our friends. The friends that we have told seem to look at us with reservation like.. "why?... is there something wrong?... can't you have kids?"...
anyway.. long rambling post just to say thanks for all the welcomes yesterday and everyone who gave advice... I'm feeling much more certain that we will be able to pick the right agency for us... a couple more to talk to tomorrow
Re: feeling really good about possible agency
Congrats!
Whenever I hear about responses like your friends, I think of an old comic I saw once. It had a woman talking to a pregnant woman saying, "Oh I'm sorry, you couldn't adopt?"
Hope that put a little smile on your face today.
