Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

If you lo sleeps in a toddler bed

S would not stop getting out of hi crib so finally we decided to do the toddler bed.  Well every night when I leave he comes to his door and cries for me before finally moping back to bed.  However some nights he will jut lay down by the door and fall asleep.  I of course go in and move him but then the cycle happens again.  I was wondering how you got them to stay in bed. It breaks my heart to hear him cry for me  but he has to make this transition.  HELP!  Post and run I'll stop back in morning,  I have to go put him back in bed :)

Re: If you lo sleeps in a toddler bed

  • Just let him sleep on the floor.  It won't take him very long to figure out the bed is more comfortable.  And it won't hurt him any to sleep on the floor.

  • We started out with a mattress flat on the floor.

  • For some reason the bed rails keep them in the bed. I also allow soft toys in bed and If I  hear them up I go in tell them firmly to get back in bed and they do. If it becomes I game I ignore them and let them sleep on the floor (only happened once with DD, never with DS)

  • Thanks for the advice...that was my initial instinct...mostly because bedtime I'm exhausted lol!  However I also feel like I should follow through on the back in bed thought.  Thanks again :)

Eh, I think it's one of those "pick your battles" things.
