Baby Names

Pierce or Pearce?

What spelling is the more common?

Preferences?

FTR: this would be a middle name

  • I think Pierce is supposed to be the proper spelling, although it might actually even be Piers??  I'm not sure but I know that Pierce is the one most often seen.  Pearce just looks like pears to me lol, although I'm sure it does get used.
  • Pierce

Pierce is a variant of Piers, but both are acceptable spellings. I think Piers is more common in the UK than it is here.

OP, Pierce is definitely the better spelling. I really love this name.

  • My DS is Pierce. It is ranked in the 400s of the SSA list. Pearce is not in the top 1000 so I would say Pierce is definitely more mainstream/common. Piers is not ranked either but definitely legit and common in the UK.

  • I would say Pierce.  But that being said, I don't care for it.  I don't care for using surnames.
