Foster Mom questions

How many people see the kids you have?

We now have a case worker, The Dr, CPS follow up, visitation with Mom, and now someone else I do not know her title but Google shows her # as "Mental health counselor" Last I check a now 7 week old does not need a mental health check.  Are we going to have more and more people for 1 case? The case worker didn't warn me of others.

Re: Foster Mom questions

  • Oh you will get a lot of visitors. I am a Sw, not a FP. But I can say in addition to the people you mentioned: casa volunteer, attorney, court investigator, probation officeryes even for a little one, early intervention evaluator...it goes on and on!

  • It's lot : i feel often like my personal life has been completely and utterly taken over by just having one tiny baby :

Just yesterday her grandpa said during a meeting "I would like to take her home with me tonight for a week". My stomach just dropped being as she has to be with respite all next week bc we are in vaca and she has visits she can't miss.

Thankfully the Sw said no it needed to be run by a judge.
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • We don't necessarily have a lot of VISITORS, but we have a lot of stuff and appointments.  We have the guardian ad litem, our worker, and children's worker who do visits.  Then we have one million doctors appointments (esp with LO being a preemie), developmental exam for older child and now developmental therapy, court hearings & meetings, etc.  We both work full time so it has been really hard deciding who is going to take off for what.  Especially because our kiddos are in two different places during the day (1 in daycare, 1 with another foster parent as a babysitter)...and they are 30 minutes from each other.  Plus I work 40 minutes from home.
