haha no...my mom showed me how to load the machine, but I don't really even know how to use a pattern. I just used a fabric quarter, cut it in half, sewed the halves together, hemmed, put in a gathering stitch, sewed on thick elastic to be the waistband, and then removed the gathering stitch. I was eyeballing a skirt from target that is similar, just a single piece of fabric + elastic waistband.

if you do the gathering stitch first, you don't have to stretch the elastic while you sew, it's awesome! super easy, you could definitely do it.
