Favorite Toy

My sweet little girly-girl is currently obsessed with nerf guns. They belong to her big brother, but she discovered them last week. She brings me the gun, I open the chamber thingy that holds the darts, she finds as many darts as she can and carefully slides them into place. Then she giggles while I shoot it at the walls. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Anyone else's kid have a strange favorite toy?

Re: Favorite Toy

  • Her favorites are always things that aren't toys.

An old cell phone, an old set of keys, the remote, razors she's found in the bathroom (jk but I did find her holding one once and I freaked out).

Oh and eye glass cases.  She loves to open and shut things.

  • DH has asked me a couple of times if it is healthy how obssessed she is with books! We really could throw away all the toys in the house and keep just her books and she'd be perefectly content. We've started hiding certain ones bc we just can't read them anymore. She brings us a string of books to read constantly, or we can sit her up in the glider by herself with a stack and she'll occupy herself forever flipping pages and babbling like she's reading them!

I could have written this word for word. The razor she found and the eye glass cases too!

  • Stacking cups are a big one but one of her favorite things is the borders that come with her foam floor mats. She loved to wave them around. Have me mold them into a crown and wear them and have me put them together and she rips them apart.
  • DD loves her tool cart which in her eyes is a shopping cart, the dogs toys (she tries to play with the dog but poor thing isn't into having toys shoved in her mouth) and her pull along dog.

Same, including the part about hiding certain books! haha! The other thing she loves to play with is the children's play kitchen that the library has. We usually get there 20 min. before story time begins so she can sit and play with it. I've got one saved to my wish list on Amazon because I plan to get it for her for Christmas. :)

Maya is exactly the same way!

She also loves bowls/ dishes.  She like to "stir" inside with a spoon or utensil.  If I don't watch her she will stir the dogs' food and then put the dog food pieces into her bowls (or carry around the dog food bowls until she drops them and food goes everywhere).  Sometimes I give her Cheerios in a big bowl to stir and play with (I have a big box that went stale so we are using them for playing with now).

  • His bubble mower. I dont know that its a strange toy, but its an out door toy that he plays with inside, all the time.

He also loves to pull all of his books off the shelf and spread them all over the floor. He does it almost every day, and he has a ton of books.

  • My guy loves this very simple toy I made him. It's a coffee can, with a hole cut in the top, and clothespins that he can put in the can. Simple, free, and he loves it!

All of this! DD rarely plays with her actual toys.

I've wondered if Liv is the same way. When we go to an indoor play area we have a membership to, the first thing she does it run to the books on the shelf against the wall.  When she does wander around the place, she is always carrying a book with her.

  • Gavin loves playing with stacking cups, his diapers, cars, an old phone & his shopping cart. He will also carry around his lovey or his puppy & get them hugs while patting them on the back.

Gage likes to play with blocks, cars, his choo choo, the dog leash, & a light stick we got at Disney.

  • DD also loves books. She will read the same ones over and over. Lately she has been hiding all her toys in an old diapers box. She loves just throwing things in and taking things out again.
  • We have books that go "byebye" here, too. Mommy can only read the same book so many times in a given evening.

C is obsessed with plastic mixing bowls. He pulls them out of the cupboard and puts them on his head then runs around laughing.
