My Mom mentioned this name last night. Her coworker named her daughter that. Thoughts and opinions . . . . I don't think I've ever heard it for a girl before.

Prepare to meet more Emerys in the coming years. It wasn't in the top-1000 before 2005, but now it is a top-300 name (top-100 in three states and #249 in Washington).
Side Note: Emerson - son of Emery. All male names up in here.
That was what I thought too. I was confused when she said it was for a girl!

I always thought it was Emory and that it was a male name. It seems like a name from our grandfather's generation.

Yep, but in the "olden days" both Emory and Emery were appropriate spellings. If you search the ssa.gov site https://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/#ht=1 both versions rank under 300 in popularity from 1880 onward and gradually decline throughout the years.
My younger son is Emery. It's a boys name! It's an old man name.
Re: Emery/ Emmry
Emery.
I like it in theory but when I say it out loud it sounds like Emily is being mispronounced.

I think its okay for both a boy and a girl. I actually like it better on a girl. It's a nice name.

For a girl, I don't like it at all.
Emmry is a bad spelling for either sex.
I like Emery on a girl.
Emery = nail file
Emory = college in Georgia
Emmry = Silly!
My grandfather (b. 1902) was named Emory, and it's my father's legal name (he was born 1943). I cannot get behind this name, or Emery, for girls.
