I registered at Babies R' Us and planned on just registering at the one place, but my sister thinks I should register at a 2nd place (like Target) because there is not a Babies R' Us near her or my extended family. So, should I register for the same things at both places?? And since the two stores do not have a lot of the same brands/designs of things...should I just choose different things at the stores? It just seems confusing (on my end, at least) to register at 2 places. Any advise? What have you done?
Re: Registry Question...
I registered at Babies R Us, Target and Walmart. I have different stuff on each registry. But I have do have some similiar stuff on each like towels, washclothes and receiving blankets. There is not a Babies R Us or Target near where my family is. This gave them the option to order online from Babies R Us and Target or actually go into Walmart for stuff. Majority of my items are on the Target Registry.
I dont know if this helps or not.
Most people will do half their registry at one store and the other half at a different store, but if you don't mind being a registry stalker and have the time to do it, you could register for the same stuff at Target and as people buy stuff you could mark it off on the other registry so that both are updated.
ETA: This won't help either though unless both stores have the exact same things that you want. Maybe shop around Target and see if there are things you prefer to those you found at BRU, or register for the stuff at Target that is the same as the stuff you liked from BRU and then remove that stuff from the BRU registry?
You could also let your sis and other family know that BRU does allow you to purchase online if they don't mind doing that. You can't get everything online, but I believe you can get most things.

I view my registry as my shopping list, so it is on Amazon but with my shower coming up in the next few months I think I'm going to duplicate it at BBB or BRU b/c I know most people like to go to a physical store...
As long as you don't mind receiving duplicates possibly, I would just make 2 of the same - otherwise people might think you didn't register for an item and deviate from the list of things you do want.
To be honest, at least most showers I attend, everyone buys the cute stuff (e.g., clothes, blankets, etc.), so maybe it doesn't matter too much?
I polled a good sized handful of friends and determined that registering at both BuyBuyBaby and on Amazon.com was the right decision. There is only one BBB in the area and it is far from reach for most. Amazon.com seemed like a logical second as it is accessible to all. We are NOT putting duplicates or near duplicates on either registry.
Good luck!
You might drive yourself nuts returning/exchanging stuff if you do two duplicate registries.
With DS I registered at BRU and Buy Buy Baby. Some people do like to go to an actual store to buy stuff...maybe register at a store that you have near you, and then pick one other place in addition to that. I wasn't going to register at BBB, but I liked some of their brands/stuff better than BRU. There was a lot left on my registry after my shower, but I just used my discount to buy it all.

If I were in your shoes I would definitely register somewhere that is accessible for all of your shower guests. This sounds greedy but it is true; if you register somewhere that is not convenient for them, you are more likely to end up with things you don't want/need and have to purchase more necessities by yourself.
I would definitely not put duplicates on registries unless you actually want to receive duplicates. It can be awkward at your shower when 2 people know they shopped off your registry and you open the same gift, especially if it is a big ticket item. This would also result in more returns/exchanges for you.
