new to board and when will my cycle return?

Hi ladies,
It has been 7 weeks since my angel baby was born at 41 weeks. While I have my moments of completely sobbing, staring at an empty nursery and getting angry at the world, I am really trying to focus on moving forward.  How long did it take your cycle to return postpartum? I am anxiously awaiting being able to really TTC. DH and I took almost a year to get our BFP and I am so afraid that we will not have our rainbow baby as soon as we would like.

I am so sorry for your loss.  My period returned about 60 days after delivery.  Have you had your postpartum check up yet?  Although my check up was a blur of emotions and anxiety going back to my OB, we briefly talked about getting back to normal, and I was encouraged to wait 3-6 cycles before trying again.  It also depends on what caused the loss, if there is a known cause.  The best thing for me was to speak with the Drs. who will be monitoring during my next pregnancy and develop a detailed plan of what I can expect.

I am so sorry for your loss. I think we all understand the desire to move forward. It is very common to begin thinking of trying for a rainbow immediately very soon after a loss. My cycle returned 9 weeks after I gave birth. I had a very smooth, uncomplicated delivery and at my 4 week pp visit my doctor gave us the go ahead to try again after one full cycle. We got pg on a medicated cycle about 4 months after I gave birth.

I asked a friend this question yesterday.  Hers returned after 6 weeks, but she'd been told that she was on the early side.

I haven't gotten mine yet, but it's only been 4-5 weeks.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm three weeks out from my loss [lost my son at 34 weeks], but I was told to expect mine between 6-8 weeks pp. The OB who delivered Devon said with no complications, I could probably try again in three months; the OB that saw me my entire pregnancy may have a different story when I see him next week. H and I are giving ourselves 3-6 months. 

I also understand the desire for a rainbow baby; getting pregnant again has been on my mind a lot since I had my loss. But be sure to take it easy and give yourself time to heal - both physically and emotionally. *hugs*

I'm so sorry for your loss. My cycle returned at about 6 weeks following our loss at 21w and we were told we could TTC as soon as we felt emotionally ready. AF returned after about 4 weeks following our loss at 16 weeks (D&C) and we were told to wait 2 cycles before TTC.

Thanks ladies. AF actually showed up yesterday. No issues with my pregnancy. DD suffered extreme distress during labor due to uterine hyperstimulation. At my PP visit, OB did not discourage us from TTC again as soon as we would like, but did tell us that the changes of premature birth are higher in back to back pregnancies. Hugs to all. I wish a board like this didn't even have to exist.
