Peeing the bed

Help! My son is four and completely potty trained -- while he's awake.  He wears a Pull-Up at night and he'll wake up dry maybe twice a week.  I thought maybe he was waking up and thinking that he didn't need to walk to the bathroom if he knew the Pull-Up was on.  So, I sent him to bed the last three nights in underwear to see what would happen and -- oh hold on, I have to put the wash into the dryer (ha ha).  It didn't work!! He pee'd all three nights! I've even tried taking him to the bathroom if I wake up but if I don't wake up I'll miss it.  Should I set an alarm? I wonder if I take him at the same time every night will his body get used to it.

 Thanks!

  • This is simple - he is not ready to be night trained.  Put him in a pull-up and let everyone get a good night sleep.  When his body is ready to be night trained, he will be.  You can't train this and waking him up to pee will only make you all tired and cranky but won't make him night train any faster.

    Ditto this.

My 6 yo is just starting to wake up dry occasionally. She was dry 3 nights in a row and then peed through her night time diaper last night.

  • I agree with the pp too!  I live it :) My 6yr old has been out of his night pants since 4 yrs old, and my 2 yr old has been waking up dry since he was potty trained at 28 months, but my 4yr old is not ready yet... not for lack of trying either. His body is not ready... but he gets so sad.. so we just tell him that eventually it will happen and we keep our youngest in training pants at night so he does not get too hurt.  Poor kid really wants to be dry overnight and even limits his own water, while his brother goes to bed with a full cup of water every night.

  • Thanks for all of the responses.  I guess we'll just wait it out.  At least now I know that age 4 isn't too old to still be wearing Pull-Ups.     :)
