Any input on the pronouncing then name Adeline A-dell- Inn? Behindthename lists A-de-Leen (French) and A-de- Line (as in spine, English). I have heard Madeline pronounced as either of these and also as Mad-el- Inn (most commonly), so didn't know if anyone had heard Adeline pronounced this way.
DH and I love the nn Addie, but want a full name for it. I have a great gm (who was German) named Adele that I have always wanted to use, and we love but don't want to use because of the rise in popularity with the singer's name.
Re: Adeline pronunciation?
I'd pronounce it as A-de-line. I think you'll run into a great deal of difficulty if you try to pronounce it in a different way than what is expected. You could go for the French version, but the A-dell-inn would have to correct people all the time.
If you're afraid of popularity, you may want to reconsider Addie. It's a really popular nickname.
Addison is a commonly used name with the nickname Addie. I knew a girl in high school named Adrienne who went by Addie as well.

FYI, Addie is super common and I think Adeline, Adelyn and variations are even more popular than Adele. So if you love Adele, go with that.
Eta: Adele was ranked 600 something last year, while Adeline and Adelyn were 288 and 300.
This. Both names are gorgeous but I know of several Adelines/Adalynns/etc. born this year a zero Adeles. I love Adele. It may just be my area, but I don't think it's that popular, not as popular as Adeline for sure.
Sweet Add-uh-LINE
Like Madeline, without the M.
I would pronounce it A-De-Line. Adalyn I would pronounce with the lynn ending. I think Adeline is a lot more common than Adele. If you love Adele I would use that.

Interesting. My sister just had a little girl and named new Aveline - pronounced the French way as A-vuh-leen. I think I'd say A-duh-leen based on my new niece, but I can see how most would say "line".
ETA spaces between syllables. Frigging mobile bump always removes my dashes or slashes or brackets. I hate it! Vent over.
