I made some deodorant last night with coconut oil, baking soda and corn starch. It was a really oily, almost liquid consistency so I put it in the refrigerator overnight. Now, it's literally rock solid and impossible to use. I can't get anything out of it.
How do you keep yours at just the right consistency?
Re: if you make your own deodorant
I gave up on the homemade stuff when I ran out. The baking soda was too harsh for me.
Also you could add more cornstarch to make it more solid. so you didn't have to go buy something else.
I keep mine at room temperature in a jar. I just use the back of my thumbnail to scrape out a little blob and then I rub it in to my pits. It's about the consistency of old school Elmer's paste at room temperature. As soon as it hits my fingers it starts to soften and if it's still firm I hold it in my armpit for a couple seconds to soften it before I spread it around and rub it in.
Hope that helps!
If you pull it out of the fridge and let it warm up for about 10 minutes, you should be able to get it to roll up. Once it rolls up the first time, you should be able to keep it in the fridge and use it directly from there. It has always worked that way for me.
