Preemies

Anyone know of a good place to possibly exchange or donate preemie clothes?

I tried calling my local kids clothing exchange places.  No one is taking onsies because they aren't seasonal.  You'd think they'd want things that aren't for a specific season but I guess not.

I could give them to Goodwill but I'm not a fan of Goodwill.  Is there anything else anyone can suggest?  A good amount of the clothes still have tags as my mother didn't know when to stop buying this size. lol

Re: Anyone know of a good place to possibly exchange or donate preemie clothes?

  • I donated a bunch of our tiny things to our NICU. They like to keep clothes on hand for parents who can't/don't bring clothes from home. It also allows the nurses to do fun things so on the day my DD first wore clothes, they didn't tell me and just dressed her up all cute as a surprise when I arrived. Totally made my day.
  • I also plan on donating my son's clothes to the nicu.  I didn't have any preemie sizes and was thrilled when my nurse dressed him up in some donated clothes.  Until she did I had no idea what a mood lifter it was to do something as normal as dressing him in real clothes.

  • I am also planning to donate to the NICU (well, the footed sleepers anyway). As PP have said, it made my NICU experience more positive to see DD in clothes!

  • Sometimes people give them away here on the boards to a new preemie family - you could always make a post or scroll down to see who's coming into the world early and then page the mom.
  • We kept a couple outfits as momento's, but donated the rest to the NICU. I absolutely loved coming in to see him in a hat and a onesie as the other PP's mentioned.

This. I plan to donate everything...I may keep one outfit just to remember how small DD was. I didn't know I could bring clothes and her nurses dressed her up one day and it made me so happy to see her all dressed up! Definitely ask to donate to your NICU
