Looks like tomorrow's likely to be Emery's homecoming! I love baby wearing but don't know logistics or what the best kind of carrier is for preemies. I imagine a sling? At what point/weight would other carriers be good? TIA
I've been wearing DS since we walked out of NICU (both times) - in fact, never been in a stroller I am a huge, huge fan of BH's which are preemie-approved, simple to work, and you can style your own.
I meant to say CONGRATULATIONS! Yayyy homecoming - the Moby was also very good when he was small, but I made the mistake or wearing him facing forward/outward which is bad for their spine and not recommended at all Just FYI.
I've been wearing her in the Balboa Baby sling and she loves it. She just hit nine pounds, and I'm probably going to break out one of the regular carriers soon.
Thanks! I loved my Moby, but thought she'd be too small right now, plus I want to use a cradle type hold. I'll probably get a ring sling for now.
Moby's are better for smaller babes - you can't use them past 15 lbs and that's literally stretching it. GL - sounds like you already know what you're looking for!
I've been wearing mine since shortly after homecoming, and we have an Ergo. We just got the infant insert, which holds the baby's head up and cuddles them in close. It worked great, and we still use it! (without the infant insert).

The cradle hold isn't really recommended (esp for beginners-not sure if you are) anymore because of the risk of cutting off the baby's airway/flow. That's not to say it *can't* be done, but you should pay extra attention to make sure baby is in proper position and chin isn't touching chest. thebabywearer.com is a great resource. Good luck!
My deal is that I am going to murder your puppies and piss on your rainbows.

I primarily used the moby and a ring sling worn high and tight against my upper chest with her in froggy position with her chest against mine. Just remember to keep baby's head up high where you can see it and so that LO doesn't get scrunched.
Congratulations on Emery's homecoming. What a wonderful milestone for your family.
I use a Weego carrier that is intended for preemies. I use it for most of time when I am awake and not pumping. In fact I am wearing Lila now as I type. The upper weight limit is 12 pounds. Judging to her very slow weight gain, she won't outgrow it for a while. Afterwards I will probably get a Beco.

Is this true for a woven type of wrap or an actual infant carrier? I have a Moby and a Bundleboo. I usually use the Moby when I have her snuggled in the hug hold, but I use the Bundleboo when I have her facing out at dinner.

Here is a good site for BW'ing reference and there's the AP board that's helpful here, too! https://www.thebabywearer.com/
