Trouble TTC

Progesterone Suppository Questions

Ok I just picked up the vaginal progesterone suppositories from Walgreen's and I have some questions.  The pharmacist (male and in a hurry) didn't really feel like talking to me so I hope you ladies can help!

(1) You use your finger....right?  How do you know you got it in there right?

(2) Do you keep them in the fridge until you put them in?

(3)  Do you lay there afterwards?

TIA!

    (1) You use your finger....right?  How do you know you got it in there right? No, you use a little applicator for each one.  They should be in the box (I used Endometrin)

    (2) Do you keep them in the fridge until you put them in? I didn't.

    (3)  Do you lay there afterwards? Nope.  I put it in, made sure I had a pantyliner on, and went on my way.

Interesting.  Mine didn't come with an applicator.  I asked the pharmacist and he said that there was none. ugh.

Yep! That's exactly what mine looked like. Easy applicator.  Maybe you can buy just the applicators somewhere if it didn't come with them? Is the pharmacy 24 hrs so you could go back up there? (I have no idea if that is the kind of thing they have in stock...)

  • If you have the small yellow capsules, then those are the same ones I took as well. Those did not come with an applicator.

You can use your fingers, and many of the women here do that. I had some applicators that came with some PreSeed Lube I'd bought a long time ago and that worked wonderfully. But your fingers will do the job.

Make sure you use a pantyliner. The medicine will be absorbed into your system, but the discharge you experience will be the capsule so don't worry that you're not getting all the right meds.

I never refrigerated mine, nor do I lay around afterwards. Everyone is different though. Remember all of the meds are messing with your hormones in one way or another so don't flip out if you feel emotionally wacked out. I did when I was on them, along with the average sore boobs and other related symptoms.

I think I might actually have a PreSeed applicator laying around somewhere!  If not, having used OB tampons for awhile I think I'll be able to get the job done.  I'm glad somebody else has used these before.

Roger that on the pantyliners.  I stocked up before hand.

    Thanks ladies!

  • That's funny that they didn't give you an applicator. Mine are like the ones in the yellow capsule too and every box has 2 applicators. I just run it through the dishwasher after use. Might be worth a call tomorrow if you don't want to go back tonight.
I put mine in right before bed so yes I lay down. Not necessary though.

This is exactly what mine looked like. I was told to use my fingers- just wash your hands before and after. I did keep them in the fridge. They told me they could get soft unless they are in the fridge.

Panty liners are your BFF. Good Luck!

  • Mine are just the capsuls in a pill bottle, no applicator. I just use my finger and wash my hands pre and post. If you've ever felt for your cervix for BBT then it shouldn't be hard. I used panty liners and put them in right at bed time, but I must say from advice here I expected tons of dischasrge and really didn't have much.

  • (1) You use your finger....right?  How do you know you got it in there right?

Well, my husband puts them up there for me LOL. He just goes as far as he can. I hate doing it by myself, and he likes it, or so he says.

    (2) Do you keep them in the fridge until you put them in?

No, mine are not supposed to go into the fridge.

    (3)  Do you lay there afterwards?

YES! And, wear a pad because they are gross and yucky. They leak out of me for hours.

Mine don't come with an applicator. They look like little white bullets and are waxy.

  • Are any of you seriously bloated from these things? I had to get pants 3fit sizes bigger than Normal to be comfy for work. I called the RE, the nurse answered and basically said ya whatever that's probably excessive but it happens. If do anyone have suggestions to help? It's making me very uncomfortable. help!
