Gripe Water/Colic Calm

Do any of you mamas use gripe water or colic calm?  If so, which do you use and why?  Our pedi recommended gripe water to us, and said to use gripe water rather than Colic Calm because Colic Calm has a few extra additives that she doesn't like.  What I don't understand is Colic Calm is approved by the FDA, and gripe water is not.  Had I realized this beforehand, I would've asked her.  Any thoughts?  What have your pedi's recommended?

We tried Colic Calm, but could never tell a difference.  For us, time was really the only thing that helped with our LO's gas issues.  We did, and still do, put gas drops (walmart brand) into her bottles.  She blows air in and this pops the bubbles right away vs building up a ton of air bubbles.

My lo gets really bad hiccups- were he will actually cry b/c he's so uncomfortable.  I have found that gripe water works great for them!  They instantly stop!  But I have found that mylicon or the generic (which is much cheaper and works just as well) works better for gas.
