Re: amazon mom question

  • I have Amazon Mom Prime - you get to watch unlimited prime movies/tv shows.  If you have a Kindle you also get to borrow one book a month.  I only became a member because they were running a $30 gift card with membership - so it ended up costing me $49 to join.  It is tough to tell if it is the best deal or not - I tried to compare to BRU, BJ's, costco, etc .

  • We got a Prime membership, but I haven't been impressed with the movie selection so far. (DH says they worked out a deal recently with some movie company, so the selection should get better.) I do like being able to borrow a book a month for my Kindle. As far as prices, Sam's club had pretty similar pricing and offers promotions now and then that would make diapers and formula cheaper than Amazon, but then you have to consider taxes and the joy of free shipping with Amazon. It's a toss-up.

  • As previous posters said, yes you get access to Prime videos and I heard te selection is supposed to get better, too. Fingers crossed!

Honestly, I think prices are comparable, but for us, the convenience is well worth it. As a result, I've been buying lots of random stuff on Amazon now that we have the free 2day shipping. In fact, I just ordered a notebook for work because I couldn't make it to Target today. You can also allow 5 users to have the free shipping, so it's nice to share with family/friends. Hope this helps!
  • We have amazon prime and love it. We buy so much from amazon bc of the two day shipping through our prime membership. We do watch movies and tv shows but mostly older ones. Right now we are watching the Tudors through our prime membership.

  • When they changed the rules last year I ran the numbers and if you mostly order a lot of subscribe and items and diapers it is not worth it because the two day shipping is not available for those items and I would have to buy a lot of diapers to recoup the $80.00 I paid to get the discount.  I looked into the video, but it was not compatible with my blue ray player or Wii, both of which are compatible with Netflicks.  So for us it was not worth the price, but others love it.  It really depends on your shopping habits and how you watch TV.

How do you set that up?  I hadn't heard about that feature.

  • It is under your account settings. You can invite 5 people via email. Note, you are included as one of the 5.
  • Good to know for the future, but we have it through Amazon Student right now (DH is in grad school) for half price, and that version doesn't allow you to share. Sad  I'll just have to keep hopping on his account to purchase.  No biggie, but would have been nice to have.
