C-sections

Worried about RCS...

My first post here so sorry if I do it wrong or use wrong acronyms.  I had a planned CS with my first son, he had a heart problem and was breech so a vaginal delivery was out of the question.  They took him at 37 weeks due to a failure to thrive.  After the CS I got a pretty bad infection in my uterus and was in the hospital on IV antibiotics for a total of 10 days after the surgery.  I was miserable.

Well, now I am pregnant with my second child.  It's been 6 years since my son was born and my OBGYN won't let me attempt a VBAC so it's a RCS for me.  I am just so worried that the same thing will happen this time.  Did anyone, well I'm sure someone had something similar to me, but could you try and ease my mind?  I am 26 weeks and have scheduled the CS for December 7.

Re: Worried about RCS...

  • Find me in a month and I'll let you know! I had an emergency CS after complications with pushing, ect.  Not sure what went wrong but I almost bled out and then after transfusions and lost of antibiotics I got a staph infection in my incision site.  It took months of recovery and we swore we were done but we have another blessing coming soon!  I'm sure we will both have uneventful RCS! • My first c-section wasnt an emergency but I went into labor (unbeknownst to me) and was bleeding;  They couldnt tell from where/why but the baby wasnt in distress.  I was essentially told I could labor but they felt I would end up w/a cs anyways or I could just do the cs.  So, I did the cs and it was great/loved it.  Got pregnant 13 months later and told my OB as soon as she walked in I wasnt going VBAC.  I loved my first--the recovery went great.  With baby #2 I scheduled a RCS but went into labor 3 wks early so in a way it wasnt scheduled lol.  It also went great.  I wouldnt change a thing about either of my kids' births.  I hope your second experience is more pleasant than your first.  I know quite a few moms who have had c-sections and I honestly dont know a one who got an infection.  I dont think it's the norm.  Best wishes!

  • I've had 3 c-sections and each one was easier than the last.  I understand your worry about the same thing happening, but hopefully your experience this time is much different.  Good luck!
