I'm planning to anchor at least the furniture in her room because I worry about what might happen once she starts escaping from her crib. I hadn't thought about doing the furniture in the other rooms, but I'm sure it can't hurt. We are moving next week, so I'll have to look into how to do it once we get to our new place.

I anchor everything out of force of habit. Being a So Cal girl and having lived threw many earthquakes its always something on my mine. But since being on the East Coast I have tried me be a bit more relaxed about it. There's nothing in Os room right now but her crib so I havnt thought about anchoring things in her room.

I said no because we don't plan on it, but if DD starts to pull on book shelves, we will do something to them. In general, we took the stance of "no baby-proofing" and so far, its working. Instead of making everything off limits to her, she is curious, we tell her what she can and can't play with/touch and as long as we show her something she CAN play with every time she tries to touch something she CAN'T play with, she is happy. Hopefully furniture will be the same.
I had an antique wardrobe fall on me as a child. I would have been crushed if there hadn't been a doorway in front of the wardrobe. We've already anchored the furniture in DS's room and his play area and we will be anchoring our dressers soon.
ETA: btw I was 6 or 7 when this happened, so it's not just about "baby" proofing. I was too short to reach the dress I wanted to wear and stepped on the wardrobe for a boost and it just came down on me. It was really scary. The firefighters had to come get me out because the wardrobe blocked the door (it opened in) and I was on the second story.
Yes, but not because of LO entirely... We live in earthquake country, I'm not worried about LO climbing, I'm worried about an earthquake causing it to fall. We did it without LO, and we'll keep on doing it.
ss for me. we have anchored some furniture, but it's not in LO's bedroom. it's a bookcase in dh's office and an over the toilet storage thing in the bathroom. everything else remains unanchored for the moment.
