I understand how gross it is.......

So I have been really curious about what a mucus plug actually looks like and I was actually looking it up on-line to see it. So I finally saw it this morning and now I know there aren't many pics of it. NOBODY wants to see that! I got rid of it as fast as I could and immediately recognized it as soon as I saw it. Let's just say it fit the description. After this incident I went in for my appt. this morning and they told me I was going into labor but so far no major pains. How long did anyone take to go into labor after they lost their MP (this is for the girls that have had previous pregnancies)?

Re: I understand how gross it is.......

  • I was Googling MP a few weeks ago, they are gross looking. I'm a FTM but what I've been told by many people including my OB is that it's no indicator of when you'll go into labor. I had a friend who slowly lost her over a month before she went into labor and I've heard some women lose theirs all at once and go into labor within a few days. My OB said the best indicator of labor is regular contractions, water breaking or having your bloody show.

  • Um, they said you were going into labor just because you lost your mp? I lost mine twice, once at 29 weeks and again at 37 weeks. I went into labor at 1 day shy of 39 weeks. I didn't go into labor til after my water broke.
  • I lost mine about three weeks ago, in big chunks throughout one and a half days. I'm still pregnant. Lol

  • My midwife told me I maybe going into labor today not just because I had lost my mp but because I happen to have an appt. this morning for a NST and while there it was indicating some contractions. So I came home did all my chores and now I haven't really had much contractions since. The baby seems to be moving normally and not much has changed. :- p
  • I didn't lose mine until I was in labor. Labor did not follow I lost it, I was already in labor.
