I was looking around for methods of teaching E to crawl because she has this terrible habit of sticking her face on the ground and her booty in the air and I found something that actually worked.
Take a towel or blanket and roll it in a cylinder. Position baby on stomach and place the cylinder somewhere under baby's hip/stomach region.
Set an interactive toy a few inches out of LO's reach and press a few buttons to draw baby's attention. As baby tries to scoot forward, roll the towel with your baby, assuring that they are balanced (its somewhat easy to face plant if the towel is too far toward one end.) The towel acts of a sort of rolling pin that keeps baby's stomach off of the floor and makes it easier for them to get up on their hands and knees.
If baby hasn't started scooting yet, its still helpful to use the cylinder to get baby used to the crawling position.
I've been daily and its really been helping. E doesn't try to moosh her face into the carpet anymore, and it only took 3-4 tries to see the improvement.
Here is a video demonstrating the steps....on a stuffed crocoalligator:

Hope it works for you!
Re: Tip to Help Baby Learn to Crawl
This is a great idea! One thing DH did with DS1 when he was learning to crawl was to actually put him up onto his hands and knees. DS1 would get so frustrated that he couldn't manage to get up on hands and knees and stay there long enough to move himself forward. It did help him a lot, especially compared to some of the other babies who started with an army crawl... DS1 never army crawled, he went straight to all-fours crawl because of DH helping him I'm sure.
I once had a picture until the trolls showed up.

This is my feeling too. I won't help S to crawl at this age. He msy never crawl and that is just fine with me!
All of this. I am in no rush for her to mobile! She does push herself around the room on her back though. I'm surprised she hasn't rubbed all her hair off on the carpet!
This. Geeze people, she isn't telling you to grab your baby and force them to crawl. She is just trying to help by giving a tip, especially for those babies already showing interest. So, thanks for the tip, Ateal!
Spread their legs! Thats how I get Camden to sit for awhile - his legs always need to be spread way apart. Also, he needs to have toys right in his lap, otherwise he tips one way or the other trying to get something.
