Cloth Diapering

how long

does homemade wipe solution last? i have the wipes all cut and waiting for baby to arrive. I plan to wet 12-18 at a time and keep them in a container. I'm just wondering how long the wipe solution itself will keep? and should i keep the extra solution in the fridge or in a jar on the counter?

Re: how long

  • I would say a few days, perhaps a week. Honestly I used to make it, but I find plain water works just as well.
  • What recipe are you planning on using.  If it has TTO in it, the solution will last longer.  I've had wipes in my warmer for 5 days with no mildew or mold musty smells.  I use ruby moon bits and add three drops of TTO.

TTO? im planning on just doing water, baby soap to start and then once baby is a month or two old I want to add some sort of essential oil.

  • If it's just soap and water in the jar, I'm not really sure how that can go "bad". I'd say it's fine, and just don't leave the wet cloth wipes for more than a day or two w/o something like tto.
