WDPT?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2198858/Mother-POTTY-TRAINS-twin-daughters-nude-plastic-toilets-middle-restaurant.html

A Utah mom was potty training her twin girls in a restaurant dining area. I mean I can understand needing to potty train, but at least do it in the bathroom, right?

Re: WDPT?

  • Not cool. Not at all cool. There's a reason you don't see this. Ever. Even at child-friendly restaurants.

Personally, I'm of the mind that part of potty training is training to go potty in the bathroom. I know not everyone agrees with that, but I would think we could all agree that there's no potty in public, particularly in eating areas.

  • Yeah I was pretty gobsmacked when I read this.

  • I'm kind of shocked that no one brought it to the attention of the restaurant staff before it was over. I mean, that can't have been "just a few seconds," when it involves stripping down and redressing twin toddlers.

  • Not too long ago, H and I were eating dinner at a restaurant on their sidewalk patio.

A woman walked up with her young child who was still in diapers and obviously thought it was appropriate to take off his soiled diaper right in front of us and let him run around with no pants on while we were eating. And while I wasn't terribly bothered by it, I felt that there was a more appropriate place to do this considering she wasn't sitting or eating at this particular place. For instance, she could have walked another 10 feet on front of CFA.

Common sense escapes a lot of people.
  • I don't think I could have seen that without speaking up. That mom is just disgusting. I wonder if she ever questioned using the toilet in a restaurant or just thought it was a super idea from the start.

Yeah I would have gone and told an employee. I really would like to ask her what on earth she was thinking!

  • I think it's funny the article references the mom's "questionable" behavior.

I don't think there's any question whether or not it's appropriate to have potties on their dining chairs.

And, seriously, what is she training them for?  Going to the bathroom while eating?

Stay at home mom to a house of boys: two amazing stepsons, 12 and 9, and our 4 year old.
